The Journey

Being a parent is tough! I'm not going to lie. Every time you feel like you finally have a grip on things, you get flipped upside down and sometimes fall flat on your face. As a parent, you are expected to get back up, dust off, and continue on the journey (no matter how bad it hurts). That's why I am starting this blog. I want to document my journey, but also help dads with their own. I learned that a big part of being a good dad is simply showing up, being there for your kids, and putting them above everything else. I learned this from my own father and even his dad. Looking back, I think that out of my 13+ years of playing baseball, I can count the number of games my dad missed on one hand. He showed up for everything and I am still so grateful for that. Studies show that dad's presence in a child's life effects his or her development. So...how do I go beyond just being around? How can I teach them something new? Why should I spend energy being a coach for their teams? Where can I take them to explore and learn about the world around them? I know we can often feel lost as parents, but hopefully this site will encourage and empower you through your journey.
